Welcome to Hazor'im. A friend phoned a while ago, very excited. He had just returned from a month-long trip to Israel, his fourteenth in about fifteen years. He goes over to take the gospel of Jesus, Yeshua, the Messiah of the Jews, to the Jews, in the Land that their God, our God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob promised to them 4,000 years ago. I asked my friend what it was that was most needed in the work he is doing. His answer was: "People on the ground, on the streets".

SCOTT BROWN

Messianic Leader and Evangelist
Minister At Large with Celebrate Messiah NZ

Raised in a traditional Jewish home in the suburbs of Washington, DC, Scott Brown began an earnest search for spirituality and “self actualization” by dropping out of college and moving into the woods of northern Wisconsin. It was there at the close...

Hazor'im was born. The word means "they that sow" or simply "the sowers". It occurs in the Hebrew of Psalm 126:5: "Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy."

Paul says in Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek". That Paul was not talking here merely of an historical fact, but of an order of priority is borne out by the fact that, in all of his missionary journeys, when he arrived at a city, he would take the message first to the Jews and then to the Gentiles.

We sow in tears because the church has neglected this priority. Instead, the Jew of today sees the church, historically, as being the primary persecutor of the Jew. This is not surprising as the false church has much blood on its hands in this regard.

We sow in tears because the time of the Great Tribulation, the time of Jacob's trouble, lies just ahead of us. Israel is gathered to the Land, after 2,000 years of being scattered throughout the nations, so that God may deal with her there in fulfilment of prophecy (Ezek 36:19-24). We see the world turning against Israel. We see antisemitism sharply on the rise. And we know that we are on the threshold of a time, for Israel, worse than Hitler's holocaust. It is to end this terrible tribulation that the Lord Yeshua will return and Israel will look on Him whom they have pierced, and mourn, and He will stand on the Mount of Olives, and all Israel will be saved. (Zech 12, 13, 14; Rom 11:26).

We want to sow the seed of God's word, so that, even if it lies in dry ground for now, when the rain does come, that seed will germinate and spring up a strong green shoot, to the Glory of Messiah. And any that would come to Messiah now, would bring songs of joy indeed. The fields are always white unto the harvest.

Hazor'im has plans underway to send teams of short-term volunteer evangelists to Israel to work among the people there, to sow the Seed into their hearts with sincere love.

Volunteers will undergo training before going.

There will also be time, in Israel, for visiting sites of biblical significance and for, simultaneously, receiving rich teaching.

As a tool for such evangelism, Hazor'im will use, principally, the material provided by Messiah Comes. Messiah Comes has the backing of Ariel Ministries and is a collaborative effort with support from the leaders of major messianic Jewish ministries such as Jews For Jesus and Chosen People Ministries.

August 1-15 Mark van Niekerk of South Africa is visiting a number of congregations in the North Island to speak about HaZor'im. Click here to download Mark's itinerary.

1. There is one God, in the trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

2. God created the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, in six days.

3. The Holy Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of God, against which is to be tested all teaching, doctrine, prophecy and manifestation of spirit.

4. Man has an inherently sinful nature, a legacy from Adam, the first man.

5. God sovereignly entered into a covenant relationship with Abraham and his descendants, through Isaac and Jacob, promising the land of Israel, His special blessing to the nation of Israel and His blessing, through Abraham’s seed, to all the nations of the earth.

6. God, through the Law and the Prophets given to Israel, foretold and foreshadowed the coming Redeemer, the Messiah of Israel, as the Saviour of the world.

Hazor'im is an initiative of Calvary Coastal Fellowship in Silverdale, New Zealand and is endorsed by, amongst others, Moriel Ministries, Ariel Ministries New Zealand and Celebrate Messiah.
